Barnham and Ford churches, West Sussex

The Churches of Barnham and Ford in West Sussex are possibly the oldes buildings we have worked on. The are mentioned in the doomsday book which will give some clue as to their antiquity.

In both cases we carried out repairs to the largely medieval bell cotes which are both traditionally painted white to act as a navigational aid.

The boarding had seen better days so we had it replaced with Sapele which we had spray painted by Ele-Flex of chichester. Sapele takes a paint really well so the result should last to the end of this century! fingers crossed.....

Once the boards had been replaced, we had the cross gold leafed rather than slap a load of paint on, the result was stunning. We also took the decision to not paint the lead, just a few coats of patination oil......
